Abs!!!!!!!

I did the 20 minute abs class on Tuesday. My instructor was a student and was pretty good. She seemed confident teaching the class but often moved at a really fast pace. My form really suffered, because she was changing the exercises too fast. I could feel a strain in my neck and back from it. A lot of the exercises were also repetitive and often ended up being boring. I like a lot of variety and challenge, and I felt that this class did not bring that. But if you are looking for a way to work out your abs while you're in the recreation center, its a good class to take. My abs were very sore and I did feel as though I got a workout, just not the one I had really planned on.

Pilates

I attended the Pilates class on Thursday September 4th at 3pm. This was my first experience with Pilates so I did not know what to expect, but was greatly pleased with the class. The teacher was great, she was upbeat and explained everything thoroughly. She even took time after the class to explain to me what Pilates is all about and its benefits since she noticed I had not been there before. Overall I was very impressed with the class and will definitely make it a point in the future to attend Pilates on a regular bases.

Idea: Group exercise classes at recreation center

- Make a better schedule for students on Excel spreadsheet; Not taking away or adding any classes, but trying to make the more popular classes offered more frequently, possibly more convenient times, for students to attend. - Erin

- Each thursday the group will meet to complete different tasks assigned:
- 9/19: put together a list of all the times we attended the classes
- 9/26: make a new schedule (on excel) that would better benefit the students at uncw for group exercise times
- 10/3: locate different journals about the positive effects of group exercise
- 10/10: meet with the different class instructors to get their thoughts and opinions on group exercise
- 10/17: put together powerpoint presentation
- 10/24: put together survey for class (presentation due the following tuesday)
